Railroad society displays trains, area's past

"Eyes fixed on the village before them, people stood and watched as the train swept through town."

The Anthracite Model Railroad Club has been active for 20 years and the club's enormous track, more than 1,000 feet of it, houses trains that snake through the two-floor clubhouse.

Open houses will continue Dec. 18 and 26 from noon to 8 p.m., Dec. 19 from 1 to 5 p.m., Dec. 27 from 4 to 8 p.m., Jan. 2 from 1 to 8 p.m. and Jan. 3 from 2 to 8 p.m.

Model Trains and the National Christmas Tree

Model railroads are a big part of the holiday season and to drive home that point even more the National Christmas Tree in D.C. has model trains as part of its display.

The 42-foot Colorado blue spruce is located on the Ellipse just south of the White House. The National Christmas Tree has been a part of the holiday season since 1923. The train display has been a tradition since December 1994.

Christmas Train Sets are a great holiday tradition.

Christmas Train Show benefits firefighters

The annual event started five years ago when John Pollock wanted to do something to help the Fire and Rescue station.

Money raised at the Christmas Train Show will help purchase items such as personal protection gear for firefighters and equipment for first responders and search and rescue.
